Tokyo, views from U.S citizen.

I watched Geekbeat.tv on the podcast last night.
It was a report from Tokyo, Japan.
Cali's impression in Japan was very clean and silent.
Yes, people in the train seldom talk as she said.
And street in Tokyo, especially in the big business company exist like Marunouch
i area
are very clean as they mentioned.

But it is one of the rare case in Japan.

The comparison with that silence in the train, they reported some shop staffs
were shouting to sell some products in the front of the shop.
IT IS REALLY NOISY!!!

I laughed and I was very amazed from their point of views.

There is NO hot vending machine in the U.S., isn't it ?

I had been meeting with a man who is from Colorado, US.
One day he was coming in the conference room with laughing.

I asked, "What's happened?"
He was showing his canned coffee and said that he bought a coffee, but
it turned out to be a hot one.
He was so surprised.

I asked him why.
Then he told me that there is no hot canned vending machine in the U.S.A,
so he had never dreamed of such thing had happened at that time.

It was amazing, I thought.

Now I have lived in Japan for a long time, it is not special in such thing,
but it sometimes makes something strange feeling for foreign people.

I laugh
ed to hear his explanation.

See you again.

I am studying Japanese history again.

I am studying Japanese history again in these days.
I studied at a junior high school but I've almost forgotten.

Now I am grown-up, I could find new meaning of these historical issues.
For example, Japanese call it "KUROFUNE(=Black Vessel)" was American unfair trade treaty.
Another topic is Japan vs. China (shin) war in Meiji era.
I had been forgotten this war was a territorial conflict relating to Korean Peninsula.

We should recognize these historical backgrounds.
If you realize the fact, we don't like unfair trade treaty with U.S.
Now we are facing a new unfair trading pact "TPP" again.

And we should feel sorry for Korean people because our ancestors made a war in the country to gain territory of Korea.

Korean people hate Japan is an understandable due to the historical background.
We should study Japanese history again and again, I thought.

My first impression of "Icecream Sandwich"

I had a chance to use docomo's new smart phone, GALAXY NEXUS, which features Adnroid 4.0.1.
This OS version is known as "Icecream Sandwich", so I tried to taste(?) it.

First, I didn't know how to search for applications, because the user interface is quite a different from current Android 2.3 version.

It is a little bit burdens to understand the new UI again, I thought.
Compared to GALAXY S2 LTE and GALAXY S2, this is the largest device of all.
I have a GALAXY S2, and I feel this device is good to watch videos or web sites, but it is hard to grip in my hand.
So I like GALAXY S, which is much smaller than GALAXY S2, better.

Another concern of Android 4.0 is application compatibility.
Many applications must be out of service on this version, I assume.
So it is not good time to buy this device now until the application could be available.

That's my first impression.
If you have a chance to touch the device in an electro appliance store, I strongly recommend you to try it by yourself and feel the new OS.

GALAXY NEXUS is SC-04D, from NTT docomo.

SONY has been changed... (book review)

I have read an interesting book.
The title is "Goodbye! Our SONY." (Written in Japanese)

Due to the book, Sony's CEO, Stringer has changed Sony into
entertainment’s company from electric appliance company.

He restructured many skilled engineers and cut budget in
research and development section.

He doesn't care about electric devices at all.

Sony makes a new business plan to connect all devices,
such as televisions ,smart phone, tablet devices to web.
And they want to make us to buy many contents, such
as movies, music, and all kind of media.

Once the device was sold, they cannot get any profit from it.
But if they could sell many contents, they would gain profit continuously.

It seemed to be a good idea.

But some competitors exist, as Amazon, Google and Apple.

I don't figure out whether Sony has a chance to win the race.

Now, I am a little bit sad feeling because I LOVE the Sony which used to be.
In my childhood, we respect Sony brand so much.

Our dream has fade
d away...

Bargain! Money for value! (Amazon Kindle Wi-Fi 6" review)

I got an Amazon's Kindle(Kindle, Wi-Fi, 6"), which I ordered a few days ago.
My first impression:

Pros.
- Compact, small, very light weight.
- Money for value
- Design (No screw used)
- Easy to read. (E-ink)
- Fewer key boards looks nice and easy to use.
- Faster as I expected

Cons.
- Encountered trouble connecting WiFi
(Solved by changed setting from DHPC to Static)
- Can't customized power off display setting
- Drawings are a little bit unclear compared to PC.
- Not applicable in Japanese.

I have used kindle by PC, iPod and Android devices, so it is not difficult to setup.

I am satisfied so much even though it costs only $109.

Compared to SONY's READER, Kindle does not support MP3 listening.
But we can buy it at a reasonable price.

Japanese manufactures should learn from this product concept.

Concerns about Facebook (Privacy matters)

I start updating my Facebook in these days.

First, I began to request some co-workers to accept me as a "Friend".
Now I've realized that being "Friend" on Facebook, I can easily access to their friend's profile and see some photos.
Some pictures, such as marriage photos, are intended to share in a group of people who are really close friend only.
But on Facebook, the friend who is not familiar with them could see the shared info at ease.

One more episode.
I got a friend request from one of my ex-co-worker.
I was at a loss because I was not a close friend at the time.
So I didn't accept his request.
But I got a request again yesterday.
It's like a "stoker".

I've never dreamed of such a thing has happened.

Now I realized that using Facebook is really difficult and we should be more careful and understand about it's specifications.

Apple is fighting against Samsung.(iPhone 4S teardown)

From a look of a new iPhone 4S teardown, parts supplier was cleared.

iPhone 4S Carries BOM of $188, IHS iSuppli Teardown Analysis Reveals :IHS

Surprisingly, the NAND Flash vender has been changed from Samsung to Hynix.

Maybe most of the commercial user doesn't care about this matter, but Samsung is the most major manufacture in NAND Flash market.
Samsung is No.1 and Toshiba is just behind that in its market share.

Even though it has a stable supply ability and cost performance, Apple chose Hynix and eliminated Samsung.
I was so surprised to know that.

Now Apple sues Samsung over violating their design proprietary in many countries.
So the famous custom CPU, A5, which was designed both Apple and Samsung, may be supplied from other companies in some days...
(But it is a little bit difficult because it was designed by a customized metal mask.)

As you may know, Samsung separated semiconductor division from mobile division to avoid a conflict with Apple, but it turned out be failed.

Now I have a confidence that Apple will fight against Samsung or other Android device manufactures.

Steve Jobs hated Android...(Biography)

Steve Jobs's biography will be published on Oct.24.
I've found a relating artilcle below:

Steve Jobs Biography: 5 Tidbits You Need To Read (PCW)

In the article, Steve really hated Android because it's a copycat of iPhone.
In the article said:

But Jobs made his feelings about Android clearer to Isaacon, saying he was "willing to go thermonuclear war" against Google over Android, according to the Huffington Post.

Isaacon is an author of the book.
Harsh messages continue:

Jobs also referred to Android as "grand theft" of Apple's iPhone and was purportedly willing to spend every last dime of Apple's $40 billion cash reserves to get rid of Android.

I am scared to read this article.
Steve really went mad about Android, I thought.

Whether it is true or not, this book will be popular among his fans.
